Message from Mayor Pro-Tem concerning the major winter storm moving into Georgia.

Weather Alert *UPDATE* Weather Alert

I just  had another conference call with NWS and it looks as though the system is moving in a little quicker than originally thought with more ice than snow the time line will be around 12 AM  snow with accumulations and around 5 AM sleet  turning to freezing rain around 8 AM  everything that hits the ground thru Monday evening will be expected to stick.

Because of the weather system all non-essential city businesses's will be closed on Monday as well as the work session will be canceled and rescheduled at a later time.

Again please check in on our senior citizens  and people that might be ill and keep our pets warm . Please report any emergencies to our police departments. I will send out updates as I get them.

Everyone be safe and warm!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just got off of a conference call with the National Weather Service Peachtree City. As you probably already know there is a major Winter storm moving into Georgia from 7 PM Sunday until 7 PM Monday this includes snow and freezing rain with 3-5 inches of snow and on top of this sleet the temperatures will be in the 20's with winds in the 15-20 mile range in DeKalb County- Doraville area precipitation will start around 9:00 most of it will occur after midnight into Monday which can cause trees and tree limbs down, power outages, and very treacherous roads once this occurs they are advising everyone to stay inside.
I have been in contact with Chief King and Bobby Pittman with public works and also the Dekalb County Emergency management team who offers many resources and DOT. They are preparing for the emergency weather. Dekalb County will have 3 warming centers to be announced I urge our Doraville Citizens to please look in on our Senior Citizens and people that might be ill if they need assistance do not hesitate to call 911. Chief King has  resources to help them out  Also if you could report trees or limbs down, power outages are any emergencies to the police department immediately it will help expedite assistance.
We will keep you updated as more information comes in please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me as well as any of our council members if you have questions but for emergencies please contact our Police Department. 911 or 455-1000
Stay safe and Warm
