Officer Stiles and his K-9 partner Dak were on patrol, when a store attendant flagged down the officers at Buford and Mc Clave. The attendant requested help, stating that his store was being robbed. Stiles goes to the store to investigate only to see the suspect running out of the store. Stiles confronts the suspect approximately 20 feet away. The suspect attempts to pull his black handgun from his waistband, as the attempt fails, the suspect then takes off running down Mc Clave Drive into the Northwoods subdivision. Stiles gives chase but loses sight of the suspect. By this time other officers have set up a perimeter around the suspect; it is only a matter of time before he is caught. Lt. Rogers joins Stiles and Dak, as Dak picks up the suspect’s scent; they track the suspect behind a home on Lambeth Circle. The suspect, original clothing, he was wearing, and handgun were all recovered. Officers receive a tip from an observant citizen of the getaway car which fled the scene. The vehicle was described as a small black Toyota passenger car with a partial tag of “BMP”, driven by a black female.
