It is the policy of the Doraville Police Department to provide general law enforcement, order maintenance, emergency response, and social service functions to the citizens who reside, work, and visit in the City of Doraville. These services are provided primarily through the Field Operations Division.

The most visible component of the Doraville Police Department, the Field Operations Division is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of a wide range of police services within the City of Doraville. It is comprised of the uniformed men and women assigned to four patrol shifts. Field Operations Division officers are assigned to the various specialized units such as the S.T.E.P. Unit, K-9 Unit, and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT). Working closely with the citizens of Doraville, officers assigned to the Field Operations Division are actively engaged in the community. The Division's officers also conduct tactical crime suppression operations, and engage in various community involvement programs.
