It is the policy of the Doraville Police Department to provide general law enforcement, order maintenance, emergency response, and social service functions to the citizens who reside, work, and visit in the City of Doraville. These services are provided primarily through the Field Operations Division.
Twice a year the Doraville Police Department sponsors an opportunity for members of the community to become closely acquainted with the roles and responsibilities of the Police Department. The Doraville Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) brings the police and community close together in a setting that offers a sample of police training to each participant.
Certification is a progressive and time-proven way of helping law enforcement agencies calculate and improve their overall performances. The foundation of certification lies in the promulgation of standards containing a clear statement of professional objectives.
The Quality of Life Unit provides fair and consistent enforcement of the City’s property maintenance code as well as sign and zoning ordinances.
The Doraville Police Reserve Program is comprised of members who volunteer their time to fulfill many of the roles handled by full-time sworn police officers. Reserve officers receive the same training as fulltime officers and work alongside them in every aspect of Department operations.
The main objectives of the STEP Unit are to enforce traffic laws in the City of Doraville and to report and investigate serious injury and fatal accidents. STEP Officers are available, during their shift, to assist regular Uniform Patrol with calls and manpower needs and shall be available for special details as needed.
